Step aside, D'Artagnan, there's a new musketeer in town! As of Friday, I - along with my oh-so-awesome history class and our two amazing teachers - will be getting up at some god-forsaken hour of the early morning to jump aboard the Eurostar and make our way to ... PARIS!
Studying 16th Century France definitely has its perks. Especially as it means we worm our way out of a weekend that - whether we had wanted to go home or not - would have been spent on Dartmoor in the driving wind and rain.
The Duke of Edinburgh co-ordinator may hate my guts forevermore, but I don't care. I shall be happily sitting beneath wonderful Parisian architecture, smiling smugly over my sunglasses and eating my bodyweight in croissant, smelly cheese and escargot (which, contrary to popular belief, is actually exceedingly tasty).
Unfortunately, dear readers, this does mean you will be without me for a few days - I'm off to London to listen to David Starkey lecturing on Henry VIII tomorrow, and Thursday will be working, packing, and leaping into vats of cold chlorinated water in a bid to improve my physique before the easter holidays.
But, the good news is that I will doubtless come back with pictures. And - judging by my past luck with our darling Froggie pals across the Channel - some entertaining stories. I managed to near-decapitate a French mayor on my last skiing trip in Termignon ... let's see what sort of mischief I can get into this time, eh?
Try not to miss me too much ;)

The Versatile Blogging Award - I Feel Famous :)
This overexcitably-written post is dedicated to the guys at Teens Can Write Too! for tagging my blog (albeit under the name of Spook's Scribblings) and putting it under the Versatile Blogging Award! Thank you, you are awesome!

Anyway, the gist of this is that I now have to write 5-7 random facts about myself, then tag other authors to pass on the epicosity.
Right, here are my random facts!
1- Yesterday was the first time I pronounced "epitome" correctly.
2- I am a sesquipedontist - a person who uses long words.
3- Moths scare the heebie jeebies out of me. Especially when they fly for my face.
4- I am the proud owner of a small red plushie dragon. He lives in my bed, and his name is Llewellyn.
5- I have a fascination with duct tape
6- Anyone who tries to touch my feet will be kicked in the face. You have been warned.
7- I like to play the banjo with the rubber bands in my braces. It doesn't really work, but by heck it's entertaining.

Top 10 Reasons to be a Villain
For the past eight or nine years, regardless of the country, school or genre, I have played villains in every single play. In my solo LAMDA qualifications my roles have gone from Satan to inmates of a mental institute and even ranging so far as twisted imaginary friends. On the grand set, so to speak, I've plotted, stabbed, connived, lied and evil-laughed myself to death. Iago, Shylock, the White Witch, Mr Sowerberry the Undertaker, Hansel and Gretel's stepmother ... you get the idea.
But I wouldn't trade these roles for anything else in the world. It's not that I'm an evil person (though that is open to some debate...), I just love villains. And these are my top ten reasons why.
1) You always get the best costume. No daft brightly-coloured hats or stupidly curled hair for you - just sleek, mean and dangerous. If you're lucky, you might get a swishy cape or two.
2) You get the best lines. Sarcastic snarks, heartfelt lies, sneaky manipulation of completely innocent situations to meet your own ends ... you get the idea. Who needs those soppy declarations of love!
3) Within seconds of walking on stage, most of the audience will probably already love you. Playing Iago in Shakespeare's Othello several years ago, I actually had people cheering for me when I came on!
4) You don't have to bother trying to keep your character sympathetic to the audience. While the hero has to be careful to stay a hero, you can do whatever the heck you want, and never give a flying donut what the pesky listeners have to say.
5) You aren't (usually) expected to break into song and dance to express your joy at a situation.
6) You never have to bother rescuing your love interest. Actually, you don't even have to bother with a love interest at all.
7) Stabbing people and running away is so much more fun than trying to talk the matter out "like gentlemen".
8) No angst sessions. You've got too much plotting to do.
9) If you die, you are pretty much guaranteed a pretty epic death scene. Usually with some ironic twist in it whereby your oh-so-cunning plan blows up in your face. Either that, or one last snark at the hero - you have to keep up appearances after all.
10) You don't have to put up with an annoying sidekick. It's minion or cannon fodder for you.

ThinkGeek Awesomeness
Does anyone else get that "after birthday" feeling? 'Cause I think I have it. I got a pretty epic haul so far, I must admit, but now I'm sort of on a low note. I think I'm getting wrapping-paper-shredding withdrawal symptoms. And yes, I do have an obsession with shredding wrapping paper. It's cheaper than therapy, right?

A Multi-Purpose Post!
Well, would you look at that, a dual-purpose post!
Merlin's Underpants, this is exciting!
Anyway, as well as being an obligatory "I'm not dead yet!" post, this little monster also serves a couple more purposes ...
The first, and most important, is to let all you lovely people know that "The Scribblings" tab is finally up and running! Sorry that only two of the works have links - I haven't finished writing Legend yet, and I never posted the NaNovel due to its holey plot, lack of continuity and overall suckiness. However, if you want to know what sick, twisted creation my mind spawned last November, feel free to read the synopsis!
If you want to know more about what's going on in any of the stories (trust me, no question is too odd!) Then leave me a little comment below and I'll happily do a little "Twenty Questions" blog post to answer all your quieries :)
And the next purpose .... there isn't one xD

To all the Hitch-Hiking Froods out there!
Hey everyone!
The 25th of May is Towel Day, a special day that commemorates the life of Douglas Adams, author of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
I don't know about you, but I could not stop laughing when I read the book, and it remains my favourite to this very day. After all, how else would I learn how to do useful things such as hide from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, and convince a silly strag to give me everything and anything I so desire, simply because I carry a towel and therefore must be a paragon of intelligence, strength and sheer awesomeness?
So please, to all you hoopy froods out there, sign this petition to get Google to change their logo on Towel Day, in memory of the man who taught us all to know where our towels are.
