I've never been in anything close to a hurricane, so I can only imagine how scared people are right now. Those who aren't sprinting out of danger areas during evacuations are stuck at home, under the threat of losing all power, with a storm barrelling towards them.
I was on Tumblr earlier, and it was full of people sending panicky "may lose power soon, so freaked out!" posts, or ridiculous things like "making pancakes in the hurricane, haha!". It might be my paranoid imagination, but I couldn't help but read those in a panicky hysterical voice.
And for every panicked message I saw on Tumblr, there were a thousand responses asking if they were alright, that people were there to talk to if need be. I even saw a few rescue offers, here and there.
They're not alone. I know at least one of my followers lives in a threatened area on the east coast, possibly in Sandy's path.
If you can read this, I'm thinking of you. And your families, and your homes.
I'll be keeping watch on Sandy tomorrow, too. I watched tonight, and from what little I could deduce from the report, it looks to be dissipating by sometime tomorrow. Whether this is accurate or not, I don't know. But I hope it is.
Stay safe, people. I'm thinking of you.
