Veni! Vidi! Scripti!

Okay, so that's not proper Latin, but guess what everyone?
MY NOVEL HAS PASSED 50K!!!!!!
...
This is the part where we all burst into happy song and dance routines, shower each other with confetti , devour unseemly amounts of junk food and drink copious amounts of sugary fruit juice.

The only thing spoiling my mood?

The story's not finished yet. I still have about a third (well, maybe a bit less than that. A quarter and a bit?) of the plot to get down on the page. I doubt it'll ever be enormous (looking at you Del, *coughcough*) but I do want to actually finish the story, you know?
Some of my friends have already agreed to give the thing a read when I'm done ... so I want to finish it so they're not left with an irritating I'm-not-done-yet-bear-with-me ending.

Still.... my first year doing NaNoWriMo and I won!
Good omens? I hope so.

Write or Die, How I Loveth Thee.

Today, I tried out Write or Die for the first time. In ten minutes, I wrote very little, but I wrote it a heck of a lot faster than I would have done otherwise. Setting the grace period to "Evil" definitely gets you going - the prospect of seeing my words devoured by an evil pink screen was more than enough to motivate me!

Chekka dis out!

Anyway, time for another session! :D

The Grandmother of All Guilt Trips ... and More Wordcount Updates!

Wordcount: 35,042.
Plot stoppages: 3
Arguements with self: 14
Arguements with characters: 26
Arguements with no-one in particular: Far too many to count.
Mental Meltdowns: 1

Yes, that's right, I finally had my first novel-induced meltdown. I just finished writing a particularly painful scene (both in sense of emotion and in how hard it was to write) and I broke down and cried. Proper crying as well. I've done worse things to fictional people, but for some reason this really upset me.
The grandmother of all guilt trips has descended on me.

I cannot believe a bunch of fictional characters have driven me to teary-eyedness. I guess I'm more into this story than I thought....

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need some more tissues and a woobie.

Halfway Has Been and Gone!

The monster's just passed 28,000 words! I'm over halfway there, and it's only day five!
The success of this is scaring me... I wasn't expecting to get this much done!

Still, my goal is to finish the thing, not necessarily hit the wordcount! Although I have the feeling that a couple of the scenes later on are going to make me cry... or tear my hair out, one or the other.

I'll start work again after school - let's see if I can hit 30,000 before the weekend shall we?

Wordcount Update!

This is going to be quick, but I just thought I'd share this little achievement with you. My NaNovel is now over 15,000 words! I won't give you the exact number (I sit down and start scribbling the moment I get in for break or during the gap after lunch) but I just thought I'd let you all know.

How am I doing it, you ask?

Homework is repositioned into free time, and then homework time is used for NaNo. Also, I carry my notebook with me everywhere so I'm never without it.
And I'm just a quick typer. I blame Timon and Pumbaa for teaching me that.

It's going well, don't you think?
Let's see how well I do when the mock exams start xD
